2016 Current Research in Engineering, Science and Technology (CREST) Meeting McMaster WISE Initiative | Application & Details

The McMaster Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Initiative is pleased to invite you to our upcoming Current Research in Engineering, Science & Technology (CREST) Meeting, which will take place at McMaster University on Thursday March 10th, Friday, March 11th and Saturday, March 12th of 2016. CREST is an interdisciplinary celebration, not only of women in science and engineering, but also of the exciting research being conducted in these domains more broadly.

CREST offers an excellent venue for students, postdocs, and faculty of all genders to present their research in an interdisciplinary environment, network with local academics, and learn more about research opportunities in academia or industry through a series of Professional Development Workshops, interactive Career Panels, and social mixers.

2016 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) University of Southern California, Viterbi School of Engineering | Application & Details

The URE program allows talented students completing their Sophomore or Junior year the opportunity to spend summer break working alongside USC’s world-class faculty on cutting-edge research in engineering and computer science. Participants will gain valuable research experience and receive a stipend for living expenses in Los Angeles. Housing and transportation will also be provided. The program will run from June 13, 2016 to August 5, 2016.

Every year the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto hosts students from across Canada for an expenses paid trip to Toronto during Graduate Research Days, an event where they can learn more about our graduate programs. Graduate Research Days 2016 will take place Feb 18 – 20, 2016, and will give select students a chance to tour our facilities, meet with faculty members and talk to current graduate students, expenses paid.

Assistant/Associate Professor – Water Resource Engineering, York University | Job Description

The Department of Civil Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track position at Assistant or Associate Professor level in the area of Water Resources Engineering. Candidates for the Associate Professor rank must demonstrate significant academic and/or industrial experience. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2016, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario; and, be eligible for appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The ideal candidate will have post-doctoral and/or industrial experience and a demonstrated track record of excellence (or a clear promise of excellence) in teaching, research and professional practice. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program and supervise graduate students. The successful candidate will also have the ability to participate in partnerships with industry and/or other public institutions and demonstrated expertise and leadership in teaching and curricular innovation at the undergraduate and graduate level.
